No “Gun-Free Zone” here…

A city in chaos, looters and other thugs running rampant, and a large percentage of the local police doing the Bug-Out Boogie... After seeing what happened in New Orleans this past week, I question the sanity of anyone who continues to condemn gun ownership.

I have seen several stories this past week about New Orleans citizens having and/or using guns to defend themselves and their property. Amazingly, these stories were told in the mainstream media – media that has, for years, portrayed Americans who own guns to be “gun-nuts” and “NRA wackos”, etc. It would be nice to think that perhaps gun ownership might now be treated a bit more even-handedly in the media, but I’m not holding my breath.

Mayor Daley, were you watching this situation? Do you still think it’s wise to continue telling your fellow Chicagoans it’s illegal to defend themselves with a handgun? Your police can’t guarantee to respond in time NOW to 911 calls. Do you really expect them to be able to contain all criminals and all armed crime if the shit ever hits the fan in your city, or any city? If a disaster does occur here, it will be just like New Orleans – everyone for themselves. God help the fool that trusts “The Government” to protect them.

I will never advertise how many or what kind of guns I may or may not own. But, in the immortal words of Cal Skinner, “You will never see a sign in front of my house that says Gun-Free Zone”.
